Look.

Look at me, am I pretty?
Do you see beauty and grace?
Do I meet your high standards?
Am I worthy of this place?

You tell me that you want me
That I mean something to you
That you need me in your life
But I'm not so sure it's true

Now look closer than you did
At the person who's inside me
Do you see the broken girl?
Hiding oh so timidly

So will you turn away now?
Will you leave this horrid mess?
Like all the ones before you
And the the answer will be yes

But then you surprise me

You look past my painful past

You could find the good I once was

Break through my walls at last!

Though you know it isn't easy

You begin to help me see

You're not here for fame and glory

You're simply here to love me

I begin to let you in now

How did I not before?

This is all I ever wanted

It is everything and more

I now know the difference

Between true love and abuse

Between those who give me no choice

And those who let me choose

Though this may not last forever

And we may go our separate ways

You will always have my love

Because you didn't make me pay
