Longer than Me

Dermatillomania--

I think the word itself is longer

Than me.

Pay no attention to the wounds:

Hairline.

Thighs.

Shoulders.

Little lava packets

Furious at their creation.

Part of me and not part

Of me.

Hours hours hours hours hours hours

In the mirror.

Concealer.

If I told you, you wouldn’t

Believe me.

they

never

believe

me.

“Bad habit.”

“Your fault.”

“Just stop.”

Stop?

What do you think

I am?

I would have stopped a

long

time

ago.

Please don’t look.

For me.

Just.

Don’t.

Look.

Dermatillomania--

I think the disease itself is longer than me.
