Letter to a Dream

Dear Luke,

You were always my ‘what-if’

My ‘he’d never’

My dream

My fantasy

You were always the one I’d return to

The one I’d notice in a crowded room

The one I’d think of if there was no one else

The one who lasts

You were always so out of reach

So far from my social circle

So common in my memories

So beautiful in my dreams

You were always my prince charming

I daydreamed about you sweeping me off my feet

I wished you’d look at me and see me

I wanted you to notice what you never would

But now

I don’t.

And you aren’t.
