A Krazy Kahlo and Picasso

A Krazy Kahlo and Picasso

By Lauren Ward

All I Need Is a Painting.

A Picasso. Or maybe a Frida Kahlo.

Not water, not food, no journal, or pen

All I need is a painting that makes my head hurt and my world spin

A painting that makes my brain pound with bursts of color and psychotic lines

Pen marks that make no sense unless it is seen through the artist’s eyes

The world saw these paintings as grotesque

No appreciation was given to their craziness

These paintings are no Monet or Van Gogh

Society loved to loathe but no one ever got the memo

Not many understood what makes the painting beautiful

Many people deemed the chaoticness unsuitable

The beauty is in the craziness that holds your sight captive

Even though the image is unattractive

These painters had a different vision

And each painting holds an unspoken wisdom

Their beauty does not come from straight lines and symmetry

The imagery is not traditionally seen but their beauty comes from their eccentricity
