It's not for us

Location

We come to class,
To learn things we don’t need to know
How to balance an equation
Which birth control works best
But not how to balance a checkbook
Or how to write a resume

Stuck in a standard classroom
With people we don’t like
Studying the French Revolution
When we hear snickers
From the girls in the back gossiping
About how you’re fat, or ugly

Lunches so inedible
You can feel your insides curdle in disgust
Textbooks piled upon textbooks
Breaking your back just walking to your car
Spend hours on homework
Until you look up and it’s 12 o’clock

Too late for decent sleep now
Wake up too early
Trudge to school
Only to relive the hell all over again
