Inviting the Day

When I first wake, wake from perfect slumber

I dread that soon to be number

The time to get up

From the soft, warm, and inviting

To the sky outside igniting.

But then I remember

That thought that spurs all thoughts

That today could be the day

I find my way

So I throw off the covers

Put feet to the floor

Maybe I’ll learn something today

Never learned before
