I'm Always There

I’m the person you run to when you need a friend.
When you need a shoulder to cry on, to complain.
When you need someone to confide in, I’m always there.
I’m the person in the background, always looking down, silently judging, but never out loud.
No one knows my name, no one even cares, no one ever talks to me, all they do is stare and it always hurts.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining,
because whenever you need my help I feel like I am doing my part.
When you need to fix your shattered life you come to me, so you can pass it on.
I feel your pain, I shed your tears, I know all your fears, and you know that I’m always there.
So when you see me in the halls you’ll think “she has no life”
but what I do is take the pain and never walk away.
Now maybe you’re right, I have no life, but my job is to keep your eyes shut from the darkness of this time,
so you can live in your ordinary world, and know,
I’m always there.
