I love Audrey Faye the Same Way I Love Auggie Faye

Audrey, don’t float away. You’re only as light as a cloud.

Fragile like thin ice over a puddle during the first freeze of the season.

Lifeless like a balloon without helium.

Drained like a phone battery at one percent.

However, surprisingly resilient at one percent,

Still defying gravity with a small kick,

Shockingly satisfying crunch when shattered,

Good thing you’re tethered because you’re only as light as a cloud.

But Auggie?

Strong like a bull, loud like a blow horn, nurturing like Madonna.

Sunday school had nothing on you,

You didn’t believe in life above the clouds, only life in the clouds.

Refused the holy sacrament at 12

Drunk on the blood of Christ at 13

Joined the unholy at 14

Spent 15 in rehab

Alienated at 16

Alienating at 17
