I Found Myself

I found myself this past year.

I found myself in the faces too beautiful to touch.

I found myself in the eyes of those who have seen too much.

I found myself kissing the noses of those without voices.

I found myself crying when we had to make hard choices.

I found myself laughing at the playfulness of one dog.

I found myself swooning over the puppies I wanted to hog.

I found myself listening to the heartbroken cases.

I found myself joining in to rescue from dangerous places.

I found myself beaten and broken when it seemed like there was no support.

I found myself standing up when others were losing rapport.

I found myself in every dog that came in to the rescue.

I found myself in the lives they now had a chance to choose.

I found myself when I knew this job would never make me famous.

I found myself amongst the glory, happiness, depression, and chaos.

I found myself pursuing my lifelong goals.

I found myself when I started saving forgotten souls.
