I am what I am
I am a shining star
Shining bright to see in the eyes of my family
I am what I am
I am a musical instrument
High and low notes
I capture the ear of others
I am what I am
I am sleepless nights
dirty diapers and bottles
singing lullabys to sooth
I am a mommy
I am loved unconditionally
I am what I am
I am a lyric in his song
I am a spark in the flames
I am what I am
I am heart ache and jealousy
I am favored by my son
I am his world
he is my life
I am what I am
I am heart felt and serious
I am what I am
I am athletic yet lazy
I have goals, I have a plan
I am determined
I am what I am
I am as wild as an elephant’s trunk
I am a heart locked away
As if it were a princess in a tower
A difficult obstacle and out of reach
I am what I am
I am Venice
I am Rome
I am italiano
I am what I am
I am of Cherokee descent
And the islands of Ireland
Dark and hard-headed
I am what I am
I am a Yankee in the south
I am close yet so far away from home
I am what I am
I am a child of the world
I am American
I am what I am
I am the daughter of a man behind bars
I am a mother of a boy with no father around
I am of heartache and lies
I am what I am
I am a traveler and a marine’s granddaughter
I am what I am
I dream of happy things
Happiness that children withhold
I am a dreamer when the sun is high
And the moon shines into my bedroom window
I am what I am
And I will always be me
