I Am The Shade of Brown

I am the shade of brown.

No other color can top this beautiful “brown”.

No other feeling can be given when it is worn.

Worn with pride. Worn with confidence. Worn with a glow.

I am the one who talks “ghetto” with a slang others try to copy.

I am also the woman who can speak in an understandable manner with a gentle voice.

Shimmering to perfection, is this “dark-skinned” shade of brown.

Not to be worn with shame or worn with a frown.

I am the masterpiece called Melanin.

I am the “colored girl” who is proudly wearing her skin.

I am the breakage between minds that leaves wonder.

I am the young lady who wears the afro puff.

I am the WOMAN who proudly brings love, peace, and joy to the table after work.

A PURE and happy SOUL who walks with a strut.

Who walks in a place full of different people with no other but courage.

I am she who dares to be PRETENTIOUS.

Nonchalant to the judgement that was given from another shade.

Us “black woman” have an attitude of gratitude with a slight cut of braveness.

I am the African queen who wears a head wrap and is dark of skin.

I am the Nigerian girl who has long hair and wears a bright smile.

I am……. A proud brown woman who leaves the footprints of POWER.

I AM THE SHADE OF BROWN.
