I Am the Ocean at Night

I am the waves hitting the sand,

When the sun has come to its end

And the stars and moon are the only light,

Calling out for the suns warmth again

I am the one who holds life that is unkown

Because the depths and darkness are an obstacle

To scuba divers and oceanographers

Who will not unravel the mysteries soon

I am a barrier to those who wish to communiate

With loved ones living on the other side of me

And even when they try to come together

Sometimes is not possible

I am not only a disastrous ocean

Although I make myself believe this

From day to day

It is not the whole truth

But I am also the peaceful waves

That people add into their soundtracks

When they cannot fall asleep

And I seem to bring heavy eyes of relief

I am the one who brings joy

Joy to children who cannot wait

To bring their swimwear the next morning

Making me part of their memories

I am the Ocean at Night

Althought I bring troubles to the world

I am also part of the reason they are happy

And I exist because I know you care
