The Hypomanic Mind

The hypomanic mind is quite unique

With sharp twists and turns, pulling you in and out of its clutches

As it creeps upon you slowly, until you can no longer claim normality

It turns wrong into right and well right into wrong

As you go from being completely still trying to sleep,

To all of a sudden wired up as if you’re ready to jump out the window,

Hop into your car, and drive sixty down the backroads of your town

The hypomanic mind is a controlling one,

Full of rules and regulations telling you to be happy

And think about everything as you try to refrain from bouncing off the walls

It’s an interesting and exhausting place to be

But at the same time, I have to note

That sometimes, while these episodes can cause me some trouble,

They have helped me come up with my best writing pieces, essays, and well anything creative

So while I don’t always like hopping into the hypomanic roller-coaster I call my mind,

I don’t think I’d change a thing

For when it does reach its up,

It’s the most enjoyable thing in the world
