Human Nature

I envy the sun:
It has no problems of its own.
It is detached

I envy the water.
It goes where it wants and does what it wants
And does so without worry or care.

I envy the birds as free as the sky.
They do not carry the burden of knowing.
They merely chirp on their merry way.

I envy the clouds.
They live and die as they please and float with grace
In an endless dance with the wind.

I envy the waves.
They have only one destiny to crash upon the shore,
A destiny that is known every minute.

And me?
I am trapped where I am forced to envy
And admire these things.
My time is limited; I am cursed
With my life being a complex equation.
I am forced to understand everything.
My destiny is unknown to me.

But I am blessed with life; why?
Because I am not the sun or the water.
Nor the birds or the clouds or waves.
I am human and I am me.
