Horror of the Night

Your panting, screaming, something’s coming, but you cannot tell what,

You run into a new room, and make sure the door is shut.

You think of what could be chasing, hidden from afar,

You look outside and all you see is a lonely star.

They’re at the door banging, trying to get in,

You try to think of what you did, the damn forgotten sin.

You dive under the bed, just as they make it through,

You here a roar, and then a snore, as you noisily come to.

You were sleeping the whole time; it was just a scary dream,

But you can’t help but check, for heaven’s sake don’t scream.
