Hindrance, Happiness, and a Whole Lotta Hope

Location

Once upon a time, there was a girl who lost her smile.
To her, everything seemed grim, dark, and hopeless; she hadn't felt happiness in a while.
Her depression suffocated her, stomped her down into the grounds beneath,
but thankfully she received help and she finally had the chance to breathe.

As time passed, that girl found happiness in so many things, no matter the size.
In acts of kindness, or in artwork, or in the beauty of guys.
She absolutely loves children, she revels in people's talents,
She's grateful for the people who take the time to listen ever since she broke her silence.

I find happiness in people. I find happiness in the things people are able to do.
I love witnessing the greatness one can achieve, or their dedication to perseverance when they lose.
People have told me to keep trying and that's what I've been doing,
Re-learning how to love and take care of myself is what I've been pursuing.

I've recently learned a perspective that sums up what these people are showing.
Life isn't about hard you can hit, it's about how hard you get hit and keep going.
These people have trudged through the shit we call “life”, these people are the ones I depend on,
These people are my role models because they keep on keeping on.

My life isn't a fairy tale, but I am living a story, and so are you.
We are the authors of our own lives and since we’re in charge, anything can come true.
Because they showed me that there is always hope, and I certainly do believe that to this day;
Even with just a sliver of hope- rest assured, everything is going to be okay.

We all deserve "happily ever-afters".
We've faced down our demons. We've fought our own battles. For some of us- all of us- we're still fighting,
But a lot of goodness is in store for us, so it is definitely worth it to keep trying.

Thank you for lending me your heart, your hands, your ears.
Thank you for your guidance that go way beyond worthwhile.
Thank you for teaching me how to live and live happy,
Thank you for helping me find my smile.
