Hidden Sorrow

Location

How precious is a soul

Open to love and sorrow.

I lost you too soon

When your sorrow won one night.

Our lives should be intertwined

With high school work and college plans

Adventures should still include you.

Your smile more than a memory.

I think of you  with anger, love and fear.

You never told me how you suffered.

I was your friend, your team mate.

I think I could have helped somehow.

But you didn’t give me that chance.

You made a decision alone in your room

That banished all help

Your mom found you; intimacy too hard to bear.

I thought you knew your beauty

The gentle loving soul we saw

But I’ve since learned that’s not true

You struggled with pain we could not see.

You were my friend, I was yours

My life is better because of you

But I never told you that.

I didn’t know we’d lose you so soon.
