Her Head Held High

Her Head Held High

She tries to keep her head held high

Her smile is rarely faded

She doesn’t want to just get by

Though she is often times jaded

Most times you cannot tell

What her shoes have walked through

Shes not someone who often does yell

Or show her color blue

Her aura mostly glows

Her nature really does shine

She’s not burdened carrying loads

And she has a strong spine

Not much has brought her down

That’s what she would like you to think

She finds it harder to frown

And doesn’t like to make a stink

She makes mistakes, like us all

Perfection is not her claim

But she gets up when she falls

And she doesn’t strive for fame

Balance in life is her key

In love, family, work and play

Is she you, or is she me

Will she go, or will she stay

She thought she would be understood

All while the years went by

Mostly doing what was right and good

At least giving it a very good try

Who knew all that she would face

More than anyone will ever know

Hoping to only show grace

And not the impacts of the blow

She’s not prepared for bullies and the hurt

Not as a child or now an adult

She’s doing her best to avert

All the gossip and assult

Bully, walk in her shoes

Before you judge

Look in the mirror to find clues

Try to wipe away the smudge

Do you get to know her

Do you care to beyond yourself

Without truly knowing her, why do you stir

The pots filled with your lies on the shelf

It is power that you seek

Without a care for the scars born

From the words that have no truth

Throwing shame and scorn

With that power, what’s the gain

Does it fill your life that much

To speak of her with disdain and inflict pain

Insidiously subtle though as such

Others do not know or see it

Your bullying so undercover it can be

That is how they think it doesn’t fit

You don’t want them to see

Though it is the bully who is insecure

Who needs to take down to feel

No matter how much the victim will suffer

Searching for ways to spin the wheel

Under a guise of faith and money

The bully seeks out its prey

So sad and not at all funny

Its effect spread like a spray

Innocence lost, friendship shattered

Understanding is out the door

She is now feeling battered

Some days she cannot take much more

No one will understand though

The bully has succeeded

To break a heart without others aknow

Her victims protest was unheeded

For that is what a bully strives

To be appropriate on the surface

Covertly destroying hers and others lives

Undercover trying to make them nervous

She will continue to keep her held high

She does have strength within

It is with pity for the bully she sighs

It is not about who loses or wins

She will smile and work hard in her life

Do goods deeds along the way

She will try to ignore the strife

And compliments she will say

She is her own person

Thank goodness she finds happiness inside

No bully will her life worsen

It’s not up to them to decide
