He said he loved her

She stood there still

taking the harsh words

Watching the hands closely

As they waved in her face

You could tell she was afraid

But she knew she had to be strong

She knew her children were watching

Her frighten child crying

But little did she know

Her silence just fueled his rage

When she said 'I had enough of your shit'

He punch her and punch her

She tried her best to fight back

And yell for her oldest to call the cops

The children cried and scream for their mom

Eventually the cops came and he was gone

For the time being

A year or two later he was back

And promised that he would change

Because he loved her

And he couldn’t live without her

Or his children

So she gave him a chance

But he never changed a bit

But everything he does is for them

Because he loves them

So they get stuck living like that

With her older children leaving her

And hardly coming to visit

Because of him

Until after 17 years

Of being emotionally drained,

Physically drained

She finally decides she is done

She can’t live like this anymore

Her children shouldn’t have to live like this

But he doesn’t want to leave

And says “I’ll change for real this time’

‘Enough! We are all tired of this shit.’

She yells and walks away

She promises her kids that it will get better

That they just need to have hope
