Happiness—that which one can neither hold nor keep
It comes and goes, it ebbs and flows
And no one really knows
If they can make that leap
Into the deep unknown

Sadness—the opposite of joy, a synonym for blue
What goes up must come down, the same is true for you
For if you never felt blue, felt sad
Then how would you know what it is to be glad?
And could you say that that’s not true?

Anger—the fire that consumes all
Racing from tree to tree to make a flaming wall
Impeding reason, killing rational thought
An emotion with which the world is all too fraught
And you can’t always resist its call
