"God is Dead"

because science and religion won’t mix.
Rope burns hands more slowly
than necks, which were made
for breathing and vessels,
not breaking, not moments
of blood or blue faces—
but red and blue can be measured
while questions can’t.
Some choose the abyss
when the bell tolls,
but we all wish in color,
and few prefer to mix science and religion
with art to create wonder
because then God lives again.
