Giving up the Fight

Location

She’s far from an innocent

For deep in her past

Lie memories in waiting,

Coming on fast.

The shame and the guilt

Are too much to take,

So she closes her eyes

And accepts her fate…

She makes the first cut,

And then the second,

As shadows of the past

All seem to beckon.

She clenches her fists

Til her knuckles are white,

Sighs, lets the tears fall,

And gives up the fight.

Wow this poem is amazing. Truly emotional but not too overdramatic that it keeps someone from understanding your work. Keep writing because you have a major talent for writing. Please read my poems and tell me what you think.
