Free, I Am Me

January of 2016?

It is a time for reinvention - my pal

You must diferentiate yourself from the last.

Self discovery is key; how do I know?

Someone told me so

also

Better bundle up becuase no one

No one

No one here likes snow

I am your friend, so I speak to you tenderly

I'm only here to help you endearingly

As your inner thought, your commrade

I help and aboad

I sugarcoat that which is commonly known

however

Teachings of oppression are typically a well digested

lesson.

"Society? It's mighty and strong!

But... are we as a whole

are we ever

Wrong?"

Curious you are, and I'd love to help

but

Don't Ask Me. Ask them.

They mean well.

I can tell by the look on your face

You are not a follower. You are not convinced.

I promise, my friend,

YOU

WANT

IN

ON

THIS

Don't walk away.

"I'd love to be apart of your wonderful society

But honestly, THAT JUST ISN'T

me

Regardless of shame, they told me to change."

"So, being a follower

I broke.

The chains.

"The new year

Prompted me

To escape the format, the rhymes, the sickly conformity that has left this poem

BLIND

<<My brain PULSES with the beat that my own heart gives it. I am at best - ALONE>>

"So now I prompt you - (my friend)

Take charge of

Your Year

Your Minutes

YOUR   L I F E"

Because of my year of discovery

my epiphone

I. Am. Me.

I did not write this to say:

"Look self, look sun, look humanity

I am FREE

because I learned to streak the face of that which cradled me"

But if I did

Would I be judged?

This poem is about:
Me
My community
My country
Our world
