The Fear of a Hope

Each hope I have rests here;

My dreams, they’re still inside.

For though the hope’s to fly

'Twill be a long, long ride.

Though music sings about me

I fear to dance alone.

I run from all the ridicule;

I fear I'll always roam.

The o’erwhelming, stressful day

The long and threat’ning night

The pain of waiting, scheming -

The chance to win this fight

Is all that I’m looking for

To even out my odds,

To beat the ones who said that I

Could ne'er break through my facade.

I'm hopeful and I'm trying;

I pray and sing and say

That someday I will see

A dream to lighten up my day.
