Fear

A cloak concealing untold woes and pain,
It casts a shadow on each sunny day and brings rain,
A drape that adds the wrinkles to the brow,
And snuffs each chance for happiness one is allowed,
It rules the night and steals the peace from sleep,
Its nightmares and terrors cause the dreamer to weep,
The fatal flaw of many yet unknown,
It stays well hidden, masked by the audacity of man’s tone

It touches every single man that breathes,
It turns the song of joy into despairing heaves,
To every horrible thing it adheres,
For what it is, is nothing but one’s fear
