Fear

Every single human

has an unabated fire

within them

waiting to be extinguished,

thwarted with

Courage is ingrained in everyone's hearts,

forcing an iron will through our blood

The most difficult part

is the split second when its power

is unleashed,

irrepressibly and insistently -

the reluctant breath and parting of lips

one takes as a prelude to singing -

and fear diminishes in its own insidious shadows

when your voice is heard loud and clear,

unabated and no longer constrained by

the barbed wire in your throat.
