A Failed Agnation

America-

Land of the free

And home of the brave

But how free can you be

If you always have one foot in the grave?

Between nuclear threats

And cutting health care,

We don’t take time for our vets

Or to even really be aware.

We demonstrate the biggest lies

By saying we’re “institutionalized”

While in reality,

We can’t even reside with our own “constitutional rights”

Because it’s always one deception, after the next,

From claiming we have no biases

To being blamed for our own unchosen race or sex;

But wait,

there’s another downside,

With overriding another country,

Because it’s totally justified.

We don’t like them,

And I guess that’s completely fine,

Because they need to succumb

To our perfectly straight line.

And we hide every fabrication

With the solution of pride and dedication;

Because that shows our love for our country

Despite whatever gestation.

Because we love our great nation,

Well, except the immigration,

And I guess, I apologize

If you don’t appreciate my summation;

But frankly, I don’t agree with our country’s interpretation

Of its alleged foundation.

It has filled me with frustration

To see our lack of negotiation.

All we ever think about is our next confrontation,

Because honestly,

who cares about the people’s elation?

So, nevermind, I don’t apologize for my shocking translation

Of how I see this “great nation”

As anything but a land of salvation.

My country
