Don't Let Them Fall

Location

Time is the gravity that pulls at the rain drops

Sending them to earth at first in tiny little drips

An urge within me grows

Something within me calls

Don’t.

Let.

Them.

Fall.

With cupped hands I rush to catch them.

With every drop I catch I see

Due dates, deadlines, essays

With every drop I catch I hear them say

Don’t.

Let.

Them.

Fall.

The rain becomes a storm

But my hands remain the same

Too small to catch every raindrop

I can’t.

Let.

Them.

Fall.

But time has run out

The rain hits the floor

A devastating crash

A sound heard by few

I hear them fall to the ground

Time’s pull drags me to the floor

They surround me, chanting, repeating

You.

Let.

Them.

Fall.
