Depression, Like a Fungus

The pain started in his head, bouncing between his ears like a bullet richocheting through a tunnel.

Soon enough the pain slithered down his throat and into his lungs, clinging and growing like a fungus.

It spread, attacking like a cancer. He knew what was wrong but he couldn't say, wouldn't say.

But they found out, soon enough, and that was when his parents realized that one could die of sadness.
