As I ponder my life under the sea

I think of the things that will never be

I want to be a part of a world

Where I am not limited for being a girl

The daughters of triton are not expected to learn

But for education and empowerment is what I yearn

All we do here is sing and dance

Should I go to the surface and take a chance?

I can visit the sea witch and she can take my voice

Maybe up there I will get my choice

Will this allow me to be free?

Is my freedom even a guarantee?

I made the deal I cannot go back now

I have to fin my way around this world somehow

I can enroll in college! Learn what I want!

This discovery is paramount

I can meet a handsome prince or it can just be me

Or I can just focus on my academic degree
