Dear Marie

Location

Oh my Marie, I'll express my love to thee,

From sea to shining sea,

I'll be there to set you free.

Pierced by the sound,

Collapse at the sight,

Black engulfs the morning light.

I wish I was dreaming,

I've lived my life in despair.

I'd give an arm to caress your auburn hair.

The family you wanted, the house of your dreams,

Might've been real, or always torn up at the seams.

My Brothers, My Country, I'll defend.

They scream this nightmare will never end.

I turn to watch as the sky burns.

Can't feel my fingers,

Can't close my eyes.

They have struck us by surprise.

Sweetheart, now, it's not too late.

Right now you'll just have to wait.

Bombs glide over me as I make haste.

Engorged in blood, it's all I taste.

Lightning strikes, we'll race the sun.

A night like this can't be Undone.

Don't worry, darling, I'm not alone.

I'll try my best to make it home...

I'll Never Surrender.

I'll Never Retreat.

We'll Never Accept our Defeat.

Fight for my country.

Stride on for my pride.

And to all those at home,

Think of all those who have died.

Can't feel my body,

I start to shake,

And for you, my heart does ache.

Gently swaying as the bodies fall,

I wish that I could save them all.

All the Men who Paid the Price.

All the Pain and Sacrifice.

All the Sorrow, All the Scars,

America's freedom is released from bars.

Morning rain caress my wounds,

And bury these bodies deep within tombs.

I'm always with you, deep in heart.

It means nothing that we're apart.

When the Sun Shines Bright,

When We're dressed in White,

We Will Meet Again...
