College First

Location

I’ll be the first of my family,

to get a degree.

While my parents are hard-working,

it’ll be different for me.

Finishing high school

is a journey on its own.

But I know I can make it,

despite the moans and groans.

With the help of my peers,

and guidings of my teachers.

With the support of my parents,

and words of wisdom from the preachers.

Through rain or shine,

through sleet and hail.

I’m finishing this race,

until that final exhale.

And when it’s over,

and my heart’s about to burst.

I’ll cross that finish line,

to follow my dreams, but remember, college first.
