Christmas Tree

Christmas Tree

By: Linda Oostendorp

Oh, Christmas Tree, with your lights and your bulbs
You are a sign of joy to most people in this world
But your meaning of happiness to me is null.

Your branches are thick and evergreen
but the story of why it is the tree of Christmas is known to me.
That tree was there at Jesus's death scene.

Such a beautiful tree to behold indeed.
But the meaning behind it is not so pristeen.
For it was the tree Jesus died on and bleed.

So remember as you put up that tree,
That it was not always so happy and pretty.
For it's bark has seen plenty of deeds.
