I have known the undeniable determination of a seed
Suffocating in soil, sifted grains of eroded rock and sand,
Drowning in a sea of coffee, sepia and taupe,
Blinded in every which direction,
Laying desolate and sullen, lungs filling with dust,
Explicitly isolated, irrevocably dying in a heat filled chamber of obscurity,
Mud occupying every crevice, motionless, yet moving, maintaining its malice and
Leaving the inexplicable feeling of claustrophobia,
Unknown pressures from within prepared to release in fits of agony.
And I have inhaled the life that makes way under the pebbles,
Stronger than the weight of the concrete that lives atop her,
More powerful than the hands that thrust her deep into the land,
She rises, shell broken, striking,
High and graceful, triumphant, smirking down upon the Earth that once held her tightly down so
