Alone, I wait another day,
Wishing you were here to stay.
You left to defend what you know is right,
You're willing to give your life each day and night.
You protect the ones you love and even those you don't know.
It is a mighty love that you show.
Be strong for me,
And for all of those who need you to be.
Know that you are always on my mind.
Love like this is hard to find.
But I know you need to be where you are,
Even though I've made a wish on every star,
That I could be with you and get to hold you once more
And know for sure,
That I will see you again.
You are not only my husband, you are my best friend.
Even though we are miles apart,
You are still with me, in my heart.
And, as I sleep tonight, I know I'm safe in the land of the free
Because of what you do for me.
You are so brave and strong.
You will do anything to protect us from what is wrong.
I miss you so much when you're not here.
So far away, wishing you were near.
Stand proud among the men who give it their all.
Ensure that no man will ever fall.
Because of what you do, everyone will have a brighter future and a chance at fulfilling the American dream,
Though the sacrifice of a life is as painful as it seems.
On the call of duty, you make us proud.
Your memories are with our children and all else that you have endowed.
I will be with you every step of the way,
For I am an army wife, and I am here to stay.
When all the world changes and new conflicts arise,
The look of true devotion to you will not change in my eyes.
It is a tough life for us both, but I wouldn't change it for the world. You are my best friend, my defender, my everything.
And I thank you from the bottom of my heart. May freedom always have a voice and sing!
