Brain Freeze

You are an ice cream cone

Enjoyed in the warmest season.

You cool me from the heat.

Any other treat is treason.

But our summer does too soon wane.

In the snowy weather

Your smooth sweetness is not dilute.

Still I force enjoyment.

Your icy nature is acute.

You cool my breath, my heart, my brain.

Why must I devour you

When all you will do is enslave?

I'm numb to your essence.

Your sugar is all that I crave.

So my health continues to drain.

Because others love me

They see that I am being worn.

I must give you up now.

No brain freeze for me anymore.
