A Boy's Life

Location

No matter what I do,

No matter what I say,

You will always see,

What you want me to be.

You can call me "she" instead of "he"

And you can call me by my birth name.

You can call me everything I'm not,

And that won't change me.

I am your son.

Not the little girl you brought home,

Not the daughter you thought I was.

I cut my hair,

Changed my name,

And you continue to think what I am not.

Here's the thing though.

After 11 years of not knowing who I am,

And thinking I was in the wrong,

I can be who I want.

I finally realize that I'm trapped in the wrong body,

Not the wrong mind.

Fighting through who I thought I was

Was easier said than done.

I am your son and this is

My life.
