Bedecked

        Why is life so complicated
        with people playing hearts
        for diamonds and digging
        gold with spades willing to
        club others for their gain?

“It’s all in the deck,” she said.
“You have to play with the hand
        life deals you.”

        Echoed words of the Jester
        sneering in smug chicanery.

But I think in black and red
        and that suits me fine
for I believe there is a true Ace
        which profits every hand
        and the choice is ours.
