There comes a time in our lives when, we will meet someone who tries to tell us their own definition of love.

They'll try to use "love" as a way to manipulate you into doing things for them, and staying even when they don't deserve you.

They use the concept of love to mistreat and hurt you.

He'll say things like  "If you love me, you'll give it up". 

But this isn't love.. You have to put your foot down and say "enough". 

And that's when he'll say "If you loved me, you'd stay".

To this i say:

Because I loved you, I put up with your lies and deceit

Because I loved you, I took you back every time you would cheat

Because I loved you, I ended up putting you first

Because I loved you, I forgot all about my self worth 

Because I loved you, I could never resist your smile

Because I loved you, I saw myself carrying your child.

Because i loved you,  I was a victim to your charm

Because I loved you, in my eyes you could do no wrong.

Because I loved you, I'd pretend I was okay

Because I loved you, I'd go without seeing my friends for days

Because I loved you, I'd cry myself to sleep

Because I loved you., I started watching what foods I would eat

Because I loved you, I wouldn't complain when you'd just watch me cry

Because I loved you, I wiped my own tears from my eyes

Because I loved you, I thought I could make it work

Because I loved you, I chose to ignore the hurt

But what is love without trust? 

There is no I in team, its all about US

So why treat me the way that you do

Why sleep with other girls, when I'm only true to you?

Then it hit me. This wasn't love. No it wasn't even close,

See because if you loved me, you would do the most

You wouldn't lie to me.You would slide for me

Ride or die for me, Bonnie and Clyde for me.

If you loved me, you wouldn't cheat

You wouldn't coat your words with lies full of deceit 

If you loved me, no  other girl would have your attention

If you loved me, i'd have no competition, not to mention..

If you loved me...you wouldn't try to force me to do a thing

If you loved me, you'd be willing to wait until the ring

 If you loved me, you'd make sure I was okay

If you loved me, you'd show it everyday

If you loved me you would know my worth

If you loved me, you'd know how to ease the hurt

You'd try to make it work, you'd always put me first

Remain by my side till the day we leave this earth

If you loved me you'd tell me I was beautiful

If you loved me, you wouldn't put me through the usual 

And most importantly..

If you loved me you'd say it, and never let me forget

But you don't..

Therefore, because I love me, this is it
