because i loved you

I wrapped your bleeding hand in gauze when you punched a hole in our dining room wall and on those nights when the sky looked grey from all those streetlights who stole the stars beauty I told you I didnt mind the view. when a crack so deep you could feel the wind make its way through appeared on our window I told you i'd work an extra shift to replace the broken glass. And, God, when you left those blue and purple splotches on my ribs and wrists, I told you not to worry about it because it was almost cold enough for sweaters. and it wasnt until your heart of ice was beating against mine in a blizzard of broken promises and broken bones that I decided this forgotten love couldnt go on anylonger.
