"Because I Love You"

Him:

I pray to wake up next to you

Because I love you

I smile at the thought of your beautiful self

Because I love you.

And because I love you

I protect you

I tell you to stop talking to him, yet you don't listen

And when you talk to him, I hurt him,

But I do it

Because I love you.

I know what he is capable of

Yet, when you don't listen, I punish you,

But it's only because I love you.

It hurts me to see you in pain,

But I promise, I still love you.

(Her):

I remember the joy we once had

The times when I never felt fear

You helped me

The times I fell, you stood by my side

And you helped me pick myself up

Where did that happy soul go?

The one that supported me

The one that saved me from falling

It was as if you were sent to me.

As if you were meant to be my 'one and only'

Now, you're gone.

Since when did hurting me mean 'love'?

After all those insults that shot right at my insecurities

You still claimed to 'love' me.

Watching every move I make

And hurting me when I returned to you.

With every hit you made

All I kept thinking was

"It's only because I love you"

But where did the love go?

It's gone.
