Because I Love You

A shattered heart,

Torn apart.

You broke me with such ease,

Knocked me down on my knees.

I thought our love was true.

And all it took were the simple words,

“Because I love you”.

You looked into my soul,

Through the cracks in my eyes,

And still, you only told me lies.

My dreams seeped out every night.

I was stuck in the tunnel,

With no sign of the light.

The saying is “If you love someone,

You’ll set them free.”

So why did you lock me up,

And throw away the key?

I finally realize what love means now.

It isn’t anguish or pain,

Nor about what you can gain.

Love is…

Someone who can silence my fears,

And wipes away my tears.

Love is…

Someone who looks at me, on my worst day,

And how that simple look,

Sends my demons away.

Love is…

Two people together trying to grow,

Who won’t give up, or let go.

This message is for those who feel…

Unloved,

Broken,

Hopeless,

And this message is true.

This message is because I love you.
