beautiful but broken

She walk into the room head high smiling

On the inside her head is curled like a turtle.

She walks prideful shoulders back, chin up

To keep the tears from falling. She’s often complimented

On her smile, but every teeth is a tear

Fighting to drop. She wears these sweater year round if

She rolled up her sleeves they would

Show her cuts. Every time she raise her hand in class,

They believe she is confident in her answer

But in reality she second guessing herself. Even though

Her head is held high she feels as if a knife

Digging into her skin is the only way to happiness.

You know she has theses eyes that

Resembles prison windows. She’s trapped inside herself

When she talks her words flow like

A melody to a love song but yet she feels as if her lyrics

As no meaning, and they call her BEAUTIFUL but BROKEN.
