Asphyxiation by Jessenia Vasquez

Location

All I remember is the black darkness before I fell into a drug induced sleep

Minutes, hours, maybe days later

I wake up feeling lost

I’m laying on the hard ground and I feel the cold pressed up against my numbing body

I get myself up and begin to wander into the chill of the night air

I feel someone watching me and begin to move faster

The sun is rising and I try to find my way to someone, something, anything

The sky is thick with fog- far too dense for me to see just past what was in front of me

I hear footsteps around me

I can feel someone following me

I turn and look in all directions but see no one

I’m desperate to find a way out but the air around me was suffocating me- trapping me inside of box

Asphyxiation

I feel them closing in on me

I find my way out of the trees and onto a road

I look ahead of me and see a light

just as I start to walk towards it I feel a jolt of pain

and then

Darkness again
