Asking for it

This girl

she walks down the street

she walks and walks

wearing her dress

and he jumps out

jumps out and takes her

takes all of her.

This girl

she sits on the couch

she sits and sits

lounging watching tv

and he walks into the room

walks in and takes her

takes all of her.

This girl

she goes to his house

she goes and goes

scuffing her converse

and he invites her in

invites her in and takes her

takes all of her.

This girl

she loves her boyfriend

she loves and loves

holding his hand

he decives her and takes her

takes all of her.

I

I went to a party

I went, I went

believing in safety

and he offered a drink

offered a drink and took me

took all of me.

They

They made no mistakes.

none, none at all.

They wore what they wore,

were who they were.

did they ask for it?

Did I?

No

and yet,

they took us

they took all of us.

But we,

we must try and try

to live our lives

to love and try

again.
