America the land of..

Tue, 02/21/2017 - 16:29 -- irinaxx

As a little girl coming from South America to this new country,

they told us about the "new life" we'd have, the great oppurtunities

but most importantly the safety

and the acceptance of this loving country.

America lived up to it's expectations all these 16 years since I've been living in the country.

Until Janurary 20th, 2017.

The day my life and millions of others changed.

From their hope to escape poverty, violence, discrimination, and religious intolerance from their homeland.

All these dreams, crushed.

The feeling of despare overwhelmed me.

 January 27th.

The day where thousands of lives of refugees changed.

The man who represents the United States has decided to ban refugees from enetering the country.

Denying access to people who are trying to escape the violence and prejuidce in their country.

The people are suffering,

innocent ones that do not deserve it.

Extremist live in their countries,

So the people are seeking help.

The people plead to have lady liberty let them in.

But our presdient has decided

No.

He is closing Americas "open arms."

What does this mean?

America is not the land of the free.

He's denying the people that need our help.

That long for religious tolerance.

The one's who are willing to get back up on their feet but need some assistance.

He believes denying their access will make it "safer."

That is a clear example of islamophobia.

The old America did not discriminate.

He is closing The U.S borders.

He is deporting illegal immigrants,

The majority of the population who helped build this country to this day.

The people who have legal children who are attending school to have a

"better future."

The millions of families he's breaking apart.

"no! please! don't take my dad!"

The most heartbreaking words

I would've never thought that would come out of my mouth.

I soon realized America is not great.. shes not the same country that I arrived to 16 years ago.

She is full of hate and discrimination.

But it is our duty, the young people of this generation to make a change.

It is our destiny for the next election to never repeat the same mistake again.

As of now, we, the people will reunite in the most worst times of history to become one.

We must

fight for our rights and the rights or the minorities,

fight for what we believe in,

to take America back.

Because America will be the

land of the free once again.
