America: Home of the Greed, Land of the Graft

Mon, 05/08/2017 - 21:02 -- cailano

They say this is the land of the free, but how can that be

when the police are shooting black people like me.

Lady Liberty represents this country, stating, “Give me your tired and give me your poor”,

but now only if they aren’t refugees of war.

We already have the tired and the poor sitting on the streets

affected by the wealth gap between the classes and senate seats.

The Government is no longer for the people,

only for politician’s greed fueled by donations from corporate companies.

Discrimination derived from ignorance against race and sexual orientation,

there is so much hate filled in this nation.

Hate crimes and rape crimes affecting all races and genders,

mass incarceration in this nation, some are innocent and some are offenders.

Love trumps hate, ignorance recently on the rise, Resist! Resist! It is a bliss.

The cares and needs of the people so readily dismissed.

Homophobia, Xenophobia, Transphobia and all the wrong fears,

people refuse to accept each other, closing their eyes and ears.

Our Earth is threatened by climate change, and anthropogenic sources,

but people reject science because facts to them appear to be horseshit.

Planned Parenthood stands with women, cares for women and wants to help with women’s health, but old white men in power want to defund it and add money for tax cuts to increase their wealth.

The American Health Care Act would sacrifice the health of the poor

to increase the wealth of the rich boors.

We need change in this day of age to give people their basic human rights,

we must take a stand and fight for what’s right.

The thing that makes America great is our diversity

and the people’s resistance in situations of adversity.

Now is the time to band together, to accept each other

and respect each other and understand all of our differences.
