All I Need

What I can’t live without?

That’s a simple question with many implications.

I could say I can’t live without air,

I could say I can’t live without water,

Or earth beneath my feet

Or the ball of fire that travels through the sky

Whose light is reflected from the hunk of rock in space,

But who can’t live without that?

I could say I can’t live without my computer

Or my games,

But I could live without that:

If I get creative.

I could also say I can’t live without my family,

But one day I will have to.

After all, no one lives forever,

And other people already live like that the world over.

I could say I can’t live without emotions,

But 4% of the human population already does so

(The technical term is Sociopath, and ,no, not all of them are serial killers).

They majority happen to be great at high risk, high pay positions.

I could also say I can’t live without my mind, but

God knows some people already live without them

(You know who you are),

But I won’t.

Instead, I confess I need the air,

The water,

The earth,

The sun,

Not only to live in,

But to thrive in as well;

To play and work in,

Alone or in groups;

To indulge and cultivate

My family, mind, and feelings in.

I need this planet Earth

To muse about its intricacies

Its simplicities

The good

And the bad

I need this planet Earth
