All I Have Ever Needed

When I was a baby I looked at you as if you were the sky

I grew a little and looked at you like a princess

I grew a little more and discovered that you were a queen

The goddess of yoga, mid-morning hikes in the dewy air

Always packing an extra apple in case I forgot mine

The way I looked at you has taught me everything

Even when you began to shatter

My beautiful stargazer lily

My sparkling dream of a mother

You have given me everything

And if I were stranded somewhere

You would be the person to make getting lost a beautiful thing

This poem is about:
Me
My family
