The Age of Eyes

Sun, 04/14/2013 - 18:42 -- shultzd

Staring out into cosmic space
Sight like flight without boundary
Bright like sparkle-ing newborn stars
Bearing all in hopes to find grace

Deadened by the deep grief of loss
Fraught with untamable worries
Bloodshot eyes tell of sleepless nights
Reddened by tears and endless fears.

Dyed in the colors of rainbows
Proclaiming youthful innocence
Entertaining thoughts far beyond
Wide-eyed by delightful surprise

Piercing with angry, sharp, daggers
Fierce as a mother lioness
Colder than absolute zero
Holder of your finite future.

Glistening with tears of reproach
Blink away tears, look down, on the
Brink, afraid to live, afraid to die
Rippling waves underneath reach all

Believing in uncertain hope
Dancing the tango with laughter
Glancing wonder over shoulders
Receiving the same loving look

Such a permanent solution
And a temporary problem
Stand up, head high; brush yourself off
Touch your heart and reach for the sky!
